Mr. Matthew Hebert
Week of 1/17/2020
-Welcome back parents and students. It looks like a bad flu has set into our class. I have been averaging 8 children absent these last few days. Please stop by to collect work if you know your child will be out.
ATTENDANCE!- Please be careful as I have several students who have a lot of absences and tardies. I have received very little doctor excuses. Many have received letters of concern with attendance. If so, please be careful and look at the Code of Conduct in regards to attendance as well as Florida law. This is very important! If you miss a day, please have a doctors excuse. The most important piece of your child's success is regular attendance.
-Wear Pink on Fridays. We are showing school spirit. Our color is pink.
-Parents: Please be on the lookout as report cards were sent home.
-Also, our February 4 deadline is approaching for FSA writing. Please encourage your child to do the best they can. Remind them that they have a full 3 hours to finish their essay. I have conferenced and talked to all children present on our "practice" runs. We have practiced and modeled good writing. Key Ideas:
-Always cite your sources. Explain why you used the source.
-Use transitive writing...First, Next, Now I will talk about......, The second reason is.....
-Make sure you are writing as much as you can using the highest language you can.
-Many children are starting to show improvements and some have almost perfect scores. On 1/19 we are doing another practice run with coaching.
-Lastly, supplies are running low. These three items have become critical:
Pencils, Copy Paper, Lined Paper (looseleaf)
-Please and thank you for the contributions.
